This spectacular antique (1923) George V hallmarked sterling silver serving tray is still in in its original presentation hard-box and is in awesome condition for its age. The tray is engraved on the front as follows: "presented to JP. Mullen Esq by fellow employees of the Geduld Proprietary Mines Limited on the occasion of his retirement as a token of their esteem Sept 1914 - Feb 1928".
The hallmarks on the tray consist of the "Anchor" city mark confirming its was made in Birmingham, the lion Passant confirming it is British sterling silver (925) and the letter "y" confirming it was made in 1923. The makers stamp (Assay) confirms the tray was made by K&L Silversmiths of Birmingham.

The tray measures a stunning 45.5cm long x 34cm wide and weighs in at a staggering 1.910kg. There are minor/ normal scuffs associated with a serving tray. Trays such as this one, are extremely rare, especially in this weight category and this condition. The presentation box has some wear and tear, but it has kept the tray secure.
